HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 23

Requesting the Governor to take suitable public notice on Sunday,
March 3, 2002, and on the first Sunday of March of each
succeeding year thereafter, of "Husband Honor Your Wife Day,"
in honor, recognition and appreciation of all wives of this
State.

Whereas, Five years ago Pastor Grover Jackson of the Canada
Chapel in Wayne, West Virginia designated the first Sunday of March
as "Husband Honor Your Wife Day," and the members of his
congregation at the Canada Chapel have celebrated this occasion
each year since then; and

Whereas, By honoring the sacred bond of marriage in this way
each year, the marital relationships of the congregation have
greatly enriched and blessed; and

Whereas, On February 22, 2000, the Wayne County Commission
designated the first Sunday of March as "Husband Honor Your Wife
Day"; and

Whereas, This worthwhile tradition should be acknowledged and
made known statewide so that others may participate in "Husband
Honor Your Wife Day," therefore, be it

Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That the Governor is hereby requested to take suitable public
notice on Sunday, March 3, 2002, and on the first Sunday in each
succeeding March hereafter, of "Husband Honor Your Wife Day" in
honor, recognition and appreciation of all wives of this State.
